Thoughts are taken from Genesis 11:1-9.
Some time ago a zealous group of people determined to build a city that would have included a tower that was to reach to the heavens. They were striving to make a name for themselves and longed for the world to take notice of them. This was to be their defining moment.
High in the heavens, God was watching the events that were taking place. Then, “the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. The Lord said, ‘If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.’ ”
It is interesting to note that these people were not seeking to honor God with their actions. In fact the opposite was true. They were seeking to make a name for themselves. Yet God still acknowledged that this group of people could accomplish anything they set out to do.
Following God is not a prerequisite for being created in his image. As human beings we are created with the ability to reason, to plan, to test, to create, to expand, and so much more. Being created in the image of God predetermines that we have unlimited potential.
So how much more can we accomplish if we surrender our lives to the direction of the Holy Spirit?
