Thoughts are taken from Genesis 11:1-9.
When we seek to make a name for ourselves we extend an invitation for God to work against us.
The group of people building the city were only interested in constructing something that others would notice and then boast of the exceptional people that made it all happen. As God observed the process, He was not pleased. He disrupted the process by confusing their language and scattering the people.
Any time we go about making a name for ourselves above honoring God we run the same risk of God intervening and disrupting our plans.
If you have experienced some frustration of plans not coming together or not being able to get things started in the right direction it is good counsel to stop and see if your intentions are lifting up your name or God’s name. It may be possible that your frustration is coming about because God has put up barriers to your progress.
