Thoughts are taken from Genesis 11:1-9.
In our last post we saw that God made the declaration that humanity has unlimited potential. In order for us to realize our potential we must work together. Humanity was created to live and work in relationship with one another.
As God is making his declaration in verse 6 he uses the words “as one people” and “speaking the same language.”
There is multiplied power when people work with a single minded purpose. When we strive to achieve results on our own we can only go so far, but when we work with others and pursue the same goals, we leverage our combined potential. We see the accomplishments and extraordinary results of humanity working together in such wonders as the Great Wall of China and the pyramids in Giza.
An essential function of working together is the ability to communicate. That is why God confused the language of the people. This confusion prevented the people from continuing in their endeavor to build a magnificent city. The same is true of us. When there is a barrier in our communication the only result is confusion. Each individual in a family, on a team, or in an organization will strive to find his own way and prevent the whole group from reaching its potential.
Bottom line… There is power in working together.
