Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.
– Exodus 40:33 (NIV)
What noble words, “Moses finished the work.” It reminds me of Jesus on the cross when He uttered the words, “It is finished.”
There is a fullness of satisfaction that wells up in an individual when they complete something, they have set out to accomplish. It is a feeling that cannot be adequately explained, it must be experienced.
To finish requires discipline. A trait not often used to describe the church in our culture, yet an unmistakable quality necessary to live well and please God.
How often in your own life do you leave things unfinished? There is a variety of reasons why this happens, but none of them are fruitful. To all endeavors, there is a beginning, middle, and end with obstacles all along the way. The most important things in life are often met with the greatest number of obstacles and the most difficult circumstances to overcome, while the more trivial pursuits seem effortless.
If you are going to be known for something, would you rather be known as someone who finishes or someone who starts and never really completes anything? Someone who gets things done, or someone others have to push for results? Someone who is a go to person, or someone whose mess needs to be cleaned up by the next person?
What is it you need to see through to completion? A big task? A daily habit? Something special God has laid on your heart? Choose today to see it through. You will not be disappointed. I dare say that your spirit will be full and satisfied.
