I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

The most destructive forces against the church are not those who operate on the outside but work from the inside out. The most dangerous message is the one that uses Christian language, references the name of Christ, or puts a spin on the true meaning of a biblical text.
One of the primary reasons we are instructed to know the Word of God (the Bible) and to know the God of the Bible is to identify that which is false. The hardest falsehood to detect is that which is almost true.
We live in a time where the word “progressive” is thrown around everywhere, even in the Church. We need to be very careful who we listen to and align ourselves with, because there are eternal implications for the life we live.
We live in a time of great spiritual warfare, especially in the Church. Let me encourage you to lean into the Word of God—read it regularly and pray for understanding. We have no greater voice to understand God, than what He has preserved for us in His Word. Weigh everything through the lens of Scripture.
Peter warns us of an enemy that is always lurking in the shadows (1 Peter 5:8) and instructs us to be sober minded and watchful. The greatest need for sober mindedness is when we are trying to discriminate between what is true and almost true.
