‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.
– Exodus 19:4-5 (NIV)
It has been said about the Bible that it was not written to us, but it was written for us. Meaning, it was written to people at a different time in human history but preserved for God’s people for all time.
While the people that receive the message of Scripture will come and go, go never changes. The Bible makes it clear that God is not only wants a relationship with individuals and families, but nations as well. Psalm 33:12 tells us: Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…
If you have ever wondered if politics matters, then this is your answer. Yes, it matters. A nation, just like an individual or family, can be enemies of God or followers of God. It is an error in judgment to believe that our national policies, which reflect the heart and morality of the nation, do not matter to God.
I am always perplexed when Christians buy into the lie that we “should not push our religion on others.” This is manipulation from the current political culture and a clever lie of the devil. All laws are moral decisions. Every citizen has a right to have their morality represented. To push religion would mean a nationalized, approved form of worship. No one is advocating for that.
Pray for and advocate for a nation that honors the Lord. Be a citizen that represents the heart of God. Preach and teach the gospel message that the citizenry will know the truth about God.
