Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
– Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 (NIV)
This life is temporary and by all measures it is brief in the scope of eternity. When you were a teenager, 30 seemed so old. At 50, not so much. But even with the passing of so many years, one comes to the realization that it only seemed like yesterday that we held onto our youthfulness and the idea that we would live forever. As we get older, we are reminded that this life is indeed temporary and in reality, very, very brief.
Brief for some might be the ripe old age of 91, and for another it might be 21. The encouragement here is to remember God while there is still breath in your lungs and life in your body. Since none of us know what tomorrow holds, why not today? Why not now? Remember Him while there is still time.
